# Editing a Translation Pack

This article shows you how to change the labels in a translation pack, for example to rename a field or menu item across the whole system.

> **Applies to:** System administrators (`admin` role) · **Module:** Set up > Translators

## Accessing the Translators

1. Click the **Set up** spanner at the bottom left of the screen.

2. In the Set up menu, click **Translators**.

3. Click the translation pack you want to edit, for example **en-GB**.

## Editing a Translation

The pack has two tabs: **User Translations** (labels on forms and the interface) and **System Translations** (system messages and text outside forms).

Labels that have been translated show in normal black text, for example **Due Date** for the key **action due**. Labels with no translation show their default in ghosted grey text.

1. Click in the box next to the label you want to change.
2. Type the new wording.

> **Note:** Changing a label only changes what users see. The underlying field, its data, reports and automated emails are not affected.

> **Note:** Once a translation has been entered it can be changed but not removed.

## Searching for a Specific Field

1. Click the **search** (magnifying glass) icon at the top right of the translations.
   ![The search icon](https://support.symbiant.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/translators-search-icon-17016a.png)
2. In the **Search For** box that opens, type the field key or part of it, then click **OK**. For example, `risk/reference` finds that exact field, while `reference` finds every field whose key contains the word.

The list now shows only the matching labels.

> **Note:** The search looks at the field keys (the orange and blue text on the left), not the translated wording, and it is case-sensitive. Type keys in lower case: `reference` works, `Reference` or `Due Date` finds nothing.

## Finding Missing Translations

1. Click the **Show Missing Translations Only** icon (to the right of the search icon).

The list now shows only the labels that are still using their ghosted default.

1. Click the icon again to show all translations.

## Saving the Translation Pack

1. Click **Save** at the top right.

2. Sign out and sign back in to see your changes.

> **Critical:** Changes reach other users the next time they sign in. Ask users to sign out and in if they need to see a change straight away.
