How assignees record progress on an action, how others reply, and how an action is marked as done.
Applies to: Action assignees, record owners and managers ยท Module: All modules with a Reviews & Actions tab
Finding Your Action #
You’ll usually hear about an action by email when you are assigned to it, if your administrator has turned on action emails. Open the record from the link or from the module’s dashboard and click the Reviews & Actions tab. Your action shows its details, assignees, due date and current state.
Note: Users with only a module’s action assignee role (the role name ends in _action_assignee) can open the records where they have an action and update those actions.
Adding a Progress Update #
- Under the action, click Add Action Progress Update.
- Type what you’ve done in Progress Update.
- Optional: click the plus (+) on the update’s Attachments grid to attach evidence.
- Optional: tick Completed if this update finishes the work.
- Click Save or the pencil (Save and edit).

Once saved, the update shows Added By and Date Added and can’t be changed, so it forms a dated trail of progress.

Replying with a Comment #
Anyone who can edit the record can reply to an update: click Add Progress Update Comments under it, type the Comment Response and save. This is a good place for a manager to ask for more evidence or confirm the update is accepted.

How an Action’s State is Shown #
The top right of each action shows its state:
- Not Started: shown on a new action before a due date is set.
- In-Progress: the action has a due date and isn’t implemented.
- Complete: Implemented is ticked.
When the work is finished, the record owner or manager ticks Implemented and saves. Reminder emails for the action then stop.

Note: Due-soon and overdue reminder emails depend on your administrator’s settings. See Creating an Automated Email Reminder When a Record is Overdue (Scheduler).
